Weather Retorts

This group of poems is about the weather and/or the seasons that rule it.

Manhattan Bridge, Edward Hopper, 1928

Gravity’s of no concern
to Edward Hopper,
or if it is,
it’s taken for granite,
tarred with the same brush
that puts shapes in their places

Amid myriad elements
of architecture,
although not enough
to prove the theory about frozen music.

After all, absent gravity, there is no music.
