Weather Retorts

This group of poems is about the weather and/or the seasons that rule it.

Rook’s Remorse

As truths lay hidden inside books,
where smart folk go for second looks,

As gold is locked in iron nooks
safe from greedy, cunning crooks,

So stand hero kings inside walls,
held fast and firm by stalwart rooks.

But if, dope as a rope, a rook lingers
near hordes of fallen villain foes,

Then, like cards, will fall king’s walls:
into fiend foe’s hand, our fey hero falls.
