Polemic

Eyesight Insight

Except that I and you and they may make
sense of the noisy, moving scene that makes

up the singular days and nights of our lives,
then why in the world would we have eyes?

Unless it is to hear birdsong day and night,
then why in the world would we have ears?

Where’s the proof that curiosity killed a cat?
Or that satisfaction brought its resurrection?

Okay, enough already, just one more question –
Where is an easier path to my perfection?
