Polemic

Death Rattle

Nightmare streams in the theatre of the mind,
unless and until the sunlight of knowledge
turns the lights on.

“Where’s mommy?” is a feeling everybody
knows, long before they know the way
to pose a question.

Since ancient times, witnesses of war
tell us the ‘mother’ sound unites the dead –

In their dying gasps, they mean to rattle us,
we of creeds that speak in blood!
