Ars poetica

Emerson’s Art

Quoting Uriel, by Ralph Waldo Emerson

So refulgent and asymmetric is nature,
that a blindness overcomes those
who paint to make bank on their
approximations of color, tone, and line –

Even though,

“Line in nature is not found;
Unit and Universe are round;
In vain produced, all rays return;
Fire will bless and ice will burn.”
