Ars poetica

Lucky ducks

Young poets look, listen, and feel
so deeply that what entices others
to make a living composing text,
is like water off their ducky backs.

Old poets, lucky survivors of youth,
her storms and lulls, have learned to make
poems that earn livings in heady museums –
within the universal imagination.

Dave Read

“To refine, to clarify, to intensify that eternal moment
in which we alone live there is but a single force – the imagination.”
William Carlos Williams
