Ars poetica

The meteoric rise in the academic sanctioning of poets since the 1970s has made "ars poetica" one of the things never far from my mind.

Song of My Community

Writing is revelation, regardless what’s heard in school.
Songwriters reveal how it does feel to be alone, or in love.

Sportswriters reveal who won, and whether or not it matters.
Opinion writers reveal private perspectives on public issues.

Screenwriters reveal both photogenic and ugly aspects of life.
Shortstory writers reveal all they know about one slice of life.

Novelists reveal all they know about the human race.
Poets reveal all of the above, but in fragments, as a rule.
