Ars poetica

The meteoric rise in the academic sanctioning of poets since the 1970s has made "ars poetica" one of the things never far from my mind.

How to Tell a Good Poem

Does it make you feel young and good-looking –
emancipated, a little more hopeful?

Can you imagine a bright aura around
the moment that awaits your next footfall?

Has your horizon expanded – are you less pinched
than when you awoke in the post-dusk morning?

If you answer yes to any of my queries, good for me;
when you make up your own, then, good for you.
