Ars poetica

The meteoric rise in the academic sanctioning of poets since the 1970s has made "ars poetica" one of the things never far from my mind.

Until the Muse

Poets are people coated
with transparent scrims
that act like velcro to catch
woes and dross of daily chance,

and keep them until the muse
pours enough milk and honey
for miss and mister poet to make
woes and dross sing and dance.
