Bullard Woods Gould Meadow May 2022

Saturday of Memorial Day weekend, 2022 was a good day to amble the Tanglewood side of Gould Meadow, then through Bullard Woods to the edge of Stockbridge Bowl, or Lake Mahkeenac, as it was known in 1850, when Nathaniel Hawthore endured a productive but unhappy exile from Salem, where he had lost his sinecure after his patron was voted out of office! (The red building is a sort of replica – but there is no shrine to Hawthorne here – yet.)
