The Flush Plinths of Lenox

We organize into communities to pool resources against the elements?

Here in Lenox, the library inhabits a nineteenth century courthouse,
vacated by the removal of the court to once-vibrant Pittsfield up the road

and at the dawn of the twenty first century, when it came time to replace
the front steps of the Library, ordered replaced too were the natural stone slabs
laid between sidewalk and steps – deemed in violation of code,

they were moved: one five feet left, the other five feet right of the new cement pavement
poured where the two stones had been operating 24/7 365 since the Civil War.

Today, painted plaster pots adorn the flush plinths of Lenox.
