of America is perfected, the idiot box has made
permanent the playpen, pacifier, and rattle.
Re-installed on the public plinth, a king whose
coat of arms shows jackals with brown noses.
Or, are we smarty pants after all, who have
sentenced him to White House arrest, so his
lame duck days drip and soak the carpets,
which we’ll pulverize into fertilizer
and ever after grow great American roses?
