Laureates Inglorious

When poets gather in schools,
for the aegis and laurels found there,

they mortarboard the eternal muse
to scatter shards of her light

on people who rule Higher Ed.,
by dint of secret partisan clues.

When poets float their own boats,
they navigate by sun and starlight.
