Everyday is Earth Day

Humanity wounds earth by its mere presence,
even though we practice the healing arts.

We take care of the careless, mend the mendacious,
and escort into corrals the killers and thieves.

Yet we thwart our prophets, we pinch their telescope eyeballs
flat as the screens that scream all day of humanity’s absence.
