Polemic

No Virginia, there is no Santa Clause

Before Amerigo Vespucci was made immortal,
by agreement of rulers who use maps first
as expressions of power, not truthful matters,

Where the American dream was dreamed first,
Virginia was the new world’s unofficial name,
in honor of the virgin then on the English throne.

A felon and pretend king now turns dream to nightmare;
He would erase ages of accepted truth, except his
tiny fingerprints are fit only for police blotters.
