Polemic

Unrhymed Hinge

The sliver of universe seen
running from JFK’s murder
through the success, ten years on,
of C.R.E.E.P., has come to seem,

Fifty years later,

A creaky hinge on a door that leads
away from slow, contemplative, primarily
honest America, into a bespoke, over-felt,
under-thought, thing on a used TV screen.
