Family

I grew up in the midst of 50 or so first cousins dristributed between the families of my mother (Conlin) and father. Two of my mother's seven sisters became nuns the others married men named: Conlin women married men named Bennett, Crawford, Heintz, McCabe, and Walsh; my father's two sisters married men named Hall and Barry!

Here’re photos from the afternoon Caitlin and I spent touring Ventfort Hall, a museum of the Gilded Age and Edith Wharton’s estate in Lenox, which may be an example of a mansion that sits in perfect harmony on a natural plot of breathtaking beauty. The Cider House Rules, starring Tobey McGuire, Charlize Theron, and Michael Caine was shot at Ventfort Hall in the late 90s.
