Ars poetica

The meteoric rise in the academic sanctioning of poets since the 1970s has made "ars poetica" one of the things never far from my mind.

Arts Not Popular

By any measure imaginable, art lives at the front of the line
that runs from pretty pictures to interesting things –

Today’s curator, psyched by yesterday’s bump to acting facilitator of public taste,
speaks first in an elegant lacework of circles, then dons a stern demeanor
for pronoun set recitations, and restates the case:

It is unimaginable the mad array of shapes, colors, & nudie-pics
you’d cram into museums if art were removed from schools.
