Live Ekphrasis

To apprehend the audience from the rear of the concert hall,
is to see a universe of heads,

And ahead of them on stage, a conductor holds in his head
an idea of what Beethoven had in mind two hundred years ago,

Along with a plan of silent conveyance for the musicians facing him
how they’ll animate, with instruments, printed notations to

Spark an unseen fuse that ignites my mind.
