Holy Calendarism

Time neither hurries nor halts, but does
seem to emerge from hair and makeup
in the wrong costume on an annual basis.

At once, distracted diarists
deduce the seasons and flood retail inboxes
with hints for holiday themes to mirror and
honor the descent of fall and rise of spring,
the doldrums of summer and slumber of winter.
