Is it time for renewal, or surrender?
By Dave Read, Lenox, MA, March 6, 2025 – America was built on sinews of the soul, on hopes carried around the world since the dawn of history; they collected into language and became the documents that created her.
The American Revolution was not a rebellion against the conceits of the British empire, but against all the national conceits of history. The shots at Lexington and Concord did not signal an insurrection against a distant, alien king. They were a global clarion call meant for anyone who would enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, free of national religion, monarchy, and arbitrary power.
It’s not for nothing that reason enjoyed a monopoly during the Second Continental Congress, where hope was coin of the realm. Nor is it any surprise that money trumped reason to transform the 2024 election into an instrument of surrender, to a convicted felon, someone also guilty of treason, who parrots the lies of Russia’s spies.
Except for Thomas Paine’s incendiary polemic against British aristocracy, British history today may boast of an easily quelled American insurrection. Except for the millions a New York real estate developer gave his son decades ago, America today would be more heavenly than hellish.
American is not a product of one or another European nation, or of any nation on any continent. Geography, the whole earth, is subordinate to the ideals of government, and government must always be of, for, and by the people.
Neither Moses, Moroni, L. Ron Hubbard, nor Jim Jones ever had clear title sufficient for the creation of an earthly domain, but everyone is free to locate heaven on any and every acre of their own soul, which amounts to all the geography human birth entitles us to.
It was the insanity of inherited and arbitrary power that inspired the Second Continental Congress to declare its independence from the king and his aristocratic parliament, and to establish the United States of America.
250 years later, our squandered independence needs to be re-declared, re-claimed, and rescued from a feckless usurper. Nothing is more timely than the convening of a third continental congress, open to all. Fake kings are old news.
